See the process of creating figurative bronze sculpture from the wax model.

August 6 , Wednesday, 8:00 pm (rain date August 7), special picnic and movie night at Chesterwood, Stockbridge, MA. Picnic grounds open at 7pm.
Augustus Saint-Gaudens: Master of American Sculpture previews a new documentary film prior to its release on PBS. During a career that spanned three decades, Saint-Gaudens created nearly 150 works including the Sherman Monument at the entrance to New York's Central Park, the Adams Memorial, and the Shaw Memorial in Boston Common (that inspired the film "Glory"). Bring your blankets and picnic baskets to Chesterwood this summer for the First Chesterwood Film Festival. (Leave your bottled water and popcorn home. They'll be available at the screenings.)

Sept. 6 , Saturday, 8:00 pm (rain date Sept. 7), special picnic and movie night at Chesterwood, Stockbridge, MA. Picnic grounds open at 7pm.
A Visit with Colette. This French documentary explores the life and work of the fabled writer Colette as she is interviewed by a young Jean Cocteau (who never failed to be at the center of things) Filmed primarily during a visit by Cocteau to the aging novelist's apartment in the Palais Royal, the footage includes rare scenes of Colette's early life and career .
Always Yes, Caresse. The story of the legendary co-founder of The Black Sun Press, Caresse Crosby. Together with her husband Harry, she pioneered the work of James Joyce, D.H. Lawrence, Ezra Pound, Man Ray, and many other luminaries of the Lost Generation. Filmed in her 15th Century 300-room castle (give or take a few dozen rooms), the footage includes a not-to-be-missed surrealist dinner with Bob Hope and a plateful of live frogs. Bring your blankets and picnic baskets to Chesterwood this summer for the First Chesterwood Film Festival. (Leave your bottled water and popcorn home. They'll be available at the screenings.)
