Bust of Senator George Frisbie Hoar, 1908

Location: State House, Beacon St., Boston

Description: George Frisbie Hoar (1826-1904), the son of one of the leading lawyers of Massachusetts, who born in Concord. Frisbie, graduated from Harvard and Harvard Law School, and settled in Worcester where he practiced law. From 1877 until his death, he was a leader of the Republican Party in the U.S. Senate. His most important piece of legislation was the Presidential Succession Act of 1886. The bust was Commissioned by the Commonwealth.
