Statue of Senator George Frisbie Hoar, 1907-1908 (1907)

Location: On the plaza, City Hall, Main St., Worcester

Description: George Frisbie Hoar (1826-1904), son of one of the leading lawyers of Massachusetts, was born in Concord, graduated from Harvard, and settled in Worcester to practice law. From 1877 until his death, he was a leader of the Republican Party in the U.S. Senate. His most important piece of legislation was the Presidential Succession Act of 1886. He left his recollections in a two volume autobiography. The funds for the statue were raised by public subscription.
