Kilbon Memorial, 1897-1899 (1898), by French (with F. Edwin Elwell)

Location: inside the town park, opposite the First Congregational Church, Lee

Description: Amelia Jeannette Kilbon (1870-1897), a civic-minded young woman, began a fountain fund that, after her death, resulted in "the most artistic public fountain in Western Massachusetts." Originally at Main and Railroad Sts., the drinking fountain with dog basins fronted the sidewalk, whereas on the reverse a drinking trough for horses faced the street. It is of Lee marble and adorned with two reliefs.
