Portrait Relief of General William Schouler, 1873 Location: Camelia Path, Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain, Boston (entrance to cemetery on Morton St.) (State 203 Highway) Description: The portrait relief of William Schouler (1814-1872), Scottish-born Massachusetts politician, editor and historian, is barely visible in this view of his tall monument. As the Commonwealth's Adjutant-General during the Civil War, he was the one who notified Lincoln of the loss of five sons of a woman to whom Lincoln then wrote a masterfully consoling sympathy letter.
