Milmore Memorial, 1889-1893 (1891)

Location: At the corner of Tupelo and Greenwood Aves. in Forest Hills Cemetery, Morton St. (State 203 Highway), Jamaica Plain, Boston.

Description: One of French's masterpieces, "The Angel of Death Staying the Hand of the Sculptor," is a memorial to the sculptor Martin Milmore and to his brother Joseph, also a sculptor. The bronze cast was exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1892 where French was awarded a medal. The plaster cast exhibited at the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893 excited great admiration.
