Chesterwood is located off Route 183 in the Glendale section of Stockbridge.  At the intersection of routes 102 and 183, take 183 south.  One mile south turn right onto Mohawk Lake Rd, and take the first left onto Willow St which becomes Williamsville Rd. Continue following the Chesterwood signs the the Museum will be on your right. Chesterwood is a National Trust Historic Site.

We are open
May 15 through October 15
10:00am to 5:00pm, 7 days a week

Guided tours of the Studio and Residence at: 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30.  Spanish language tours are available Saturday and Sunday at 1:30pm. Reservations are not required for fewer than 12 people.  Visitors will also enjoy exhibits in the Visitor Center and Barn Gallery, the Garden and Woodland Walk, and browsing in the Museum Shop.

Contemporary Sculpture at Chesterwood is on exhibition from late June through Columbus Day. Tours available through your cell phone and every Friday at 1pm.

Admission is free* to members of the Friends of Chesterwood and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

* Some programs carry an additional nominal charge.  Rates may vary during special events.

Admission income is a small part of our operating budget.  Please consider becoming a member of the Friends of Chesterwood today.

Special rates will be posted.

Reservations & Confirmation
All groups of 12 or more should contact the Museum to book and confirm tours at least two weeks ahead of the visit. A written confirmation will then be sent. Individual visitation requires no reservation.

Payment
Payment by cash, check, or credit card is due upon arrival at the Visitor Center. Tours may be billed by prior arrangement only.

Refreshments

No food or beverages are sold on the property. Groups may bring light refreshments with permission in advance or you can arrange for individual box lunches or refreshments for your group one week in advance.** Outdoor picnic tables are available at no charge. An indoor space, the Woodshed Facility, is available for rent at selected times during the season.
** When refreshments are provided, you will be responsible for payment of the confirmed number of people. This number must be given by telephone five days prior to your visit.

Cancellation Policy

If your group has to cancel its reservation, please notify us in writing or by FAX to Chesterwood at: 413-298-3973.

Parking
Buses should proceed straight up drive to upper gate. A staff member will assist in parking and unloading passengers.

Museum Shop

We offer an eclectic collection of books, gifts and other items in the shop. Please allow adequate time for shopping.

Picnic Area

Picnic tables are available near the large parking lot. In inclement weather, the group is asked to eat on the bus. Food and beverages must be consumed in designated areas only.

Length of Visit

Please allow your group 1 to 2 hours for your visit. Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early for disembarkation and rest room use. Casual dress and comfortable shoes are suggested.
