The George Washington statue was presented to France by the Daughters of the American Revolution as a thank you for the Statue of Liberty. French worked on the 30 foot sculpture in his Chesterwood studio, having to remove the sword when it was full-size as it would not fit within the constraints of the space. The bronze statue can be found in Place d'Iena, Paris, France.

General Charles Devens was a Civil War General. This statue is to commemorate the lives of Worcester citizens lost in the War. The bronze sculpture can be found in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The George Washington and General Charles Devens statues are two of French's works that required the help of American sculptor, Edward C. Potter (1857-1923). French would model the human figure while Potter was an expert on animal anatomy. The two collaborated on several works.
