The talented Fellows from the famed Tanglewood Music Center return to the historic Studio with a String Quartet and Solo Marimba. The program will feature works by Gabriela Ortiz, Ellen Reid, and Gabrielle Smith. This is a free, community event. Seating is limited and reservations are requested.
Tanglewood Music Center Fellows experience music making at the highest level, enjoying close mentorship from members of a world-class orchestra, intensive and inspiring coaching from resident faculty, thought-provoking classes with distinguished visiting musicians, and myriad performances from the Boston Symphony Orchestra and a diverse array of guest artists.
Serge Koussevitzky, the Boston Symphony Orchestra's music director from 1924 to 1949, founded the Tanglewood Music Center in 1940. His vision was to create a premier music academy where the rising generation of great musicians could access the resources of a great symphony orchestra, honing their skills under the mentorship of BSO musicians and other luminaries in the field.
This free, community program is a partnership between Chesterwood and the Tanglewood Learning Institute.
