Standing Lincoln (State Capitol, Lincoln, Nebraska)

$209.00

In 1909 the Abraham Lincoln Centennial Memorial Association selected Daniel Chester French to create a portrait of Lincoln for the Capitol Grounds in Lincoln, Nebraska. The sculptor chose to portray him in the standing position with his hands clasped in front and his gaze downward, gathering his thoughts before making his most famous speech, the Gettysburg Address, which is inscribed in the stele behind the 8 foot statue at the State Capitol. A bronze full-size copy of this sculpture can be viewed on the grounds at Chesterwood.
